Maracatu ilha Brilhante

Maracatu ilha Brilhante (Shining Island Maracatu) is a music and folkloric cultural ensemble that specialise in the exhilarating drumming rhythms of Maracatu Baque Virado from Pernambuco in the Northeast of Brazil.

Founded in 2010, the group focus on the energy and spirit of the living Maracatu traditions and communities through thunderous rhythms, enchanting songs and choreographed movement.

Featuring some of the finest performers living in Ireland under the musical directorship of percussionist Thomas Duffy, their music is sure to shake the street and stir the soul.
