Carlow’s Carnival of Collective Joy Awarded 'Begin Together' Funding

The Festival receives funding from the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Fund with Business to Arts.

Carlow Arts Festival’s community engagement project the Carnival of Collective Joy! has been awarded funding from the Bank of Ireland Begin Together Fund in partnership with Business to Arts.

In 2023, together with our project partner VISUAL, we'll once again work with young people from local schools to design and deliver Carlow Arts Festival's centrepiece carnival which will parade through Carlow in June.

In 2022, 290 children from across County Carlow worked with professional artists to create our very first Carnival of Collective Joy! Inspired by Irish mythology, the parade was enjoyed by over 2500 people as it wound its way around the streets of Carlow as part of Cruinnú na nÓg on Saturday 9 June.

Thank you to Bank of Ireland and Business to Arts for their amazing support of this project in 2023!

The Carnival of Collective Joy!
is part of ASSEMBLY, our year-round community engagement and participation programme. Carlow Arts Festival is principally funded by Arts Council Ireland and grant aided by Carlow County Council.
