Mayumi Nakabayashi

A beautiful mandala installation on Carlow College grounds

Mayumi Nakabayashi is a Japanese land artist living in Ireland since 1999. She creates geometric patterns and structures with natural materials. Her works are ephemeral and site responsive – the artworks which feel harmonious in the landscape, incorporating elements and materials found on the spot.

She has exhibited at Trinity College Dublin, European Land Art Festival, Clifden Arts Festival, Nature Art de Zavelput in Belgium and other places. She also leads workshops for schools and communities, co-creating environmental arts to bring people together.

She has led sessions for VISUAL Carlow, IMMA, RTE, Alzheimer Society of Ireland and others. Her passion lies in co-creation on all levels – with people and with nature.
