An Ant Called Amy
Julie Sharkey
Theatre & Families
This is a story about an ant called Amy (an award-winning ant one might add), her brother Andy and a Brown Spider. Amy the ant works very hard. When she wins the Employee of the Month Award, Amy feels a happiness that drives her to work even harder. But is she truly content?
With the help of the Brown Spider, Amy learns to find true happiness by appreciating the world around her and celebrating her brother’s memory in the everyday.
Written and performed by Julie Sharkey. Directed by Raymond Keane. This charming and moving story for children aged 5-8, tells the tale of an ant who learns to slow down.
"In my little play, Amy the ant is missing her brother, Andy. This is a gentle tale. It’s entertaining and fun. It’s not going to uncover an awful truth or discuss serious illness. Simply, we meet this little ant Amy, who is working to forget… Until her supposed arch enemy the Brown Spider gently nudges her to find Andy in the everyday." - Julie Sharkey
